Booking site

About Experience

Join Terumi to experience Japanese treat making, and tea ceremony.
Generally we get a sense of the season in tea ceremony.
So as preparation for tea ceremony , we will start with molding soft dough into something seasonal that was prepared by a confectionery shop which is almost 300 years old.
And then we’ll move to tea ceremony. First Terumi will serve a bowl of matcha to each guest in a basic way of authentic tea ceremony.
And next is your turn! Please try making another bowl of matcha by yourself using tea utensils with Terumi’s instruction.

Booking site

About Tour

This tour is 5 hours walking tour.
Let’s meet each other at JR Uji station (in front of the gate of JR Uji station, it has only one gate).
Uji is one of famous Japan’s tea plantations, and located in south of Kyoto.
First we walk down Uji bridge street, which is one of old streets and where tea shops are lined up,
And cross the bridge. On the way we’ll stop by the several Japanese leading tea shops to see how The architecture is like, and feel all things about tea in the shops. One is the oldest tea shop ( about 1000 years old).

And let's visit the oldest shrine in Japan registered as World Heritage site “Byodoin” . If you are interested in Genji story (the oldest JP love story written about 1000 years ago), let's visit Genji monogatari (=story) museum to learn how ancient JP aristocracies lived, and thought by seeing the exhibitions and 2 films in a row. And let's have a lunch run by one tea shop, and move to a tea house to experience tea ceremony(please do not worry,

I'll explain how we are supposed to be as a guest) in simply way, then visit one of 7 famous tea fields

in the Uji area and then go back the first Uji bridge street for a tea farmer's shop. In the shop we can have some tea tasting including bowls of matcha.
If you wish to get some organic tencha, the shop is limited, but if you wish to get nice sencha(kneaded tea leaves) , you can have great chances to get in Uji.
